1. Silver & Black

Director: Gina Prince-Bythewood
Distributed by: Sony Pictures
Screenplay: Gina Prince-Bythewood, Christoper Yost, Lisa joy, and etc.
Producers: Amy Pascal, Matt Tolmach
Story by: Marv Wolfman, Tom DeFalco, Ron Frenz, Keith Pollard
Release Date: Feb 8, 2019
"Silver & Black" is based on two Marvel characters: Silver Saber, a mercenary who runs a company that hunts war criminals, and Black Cat a burglar named Felicia Hardy who briefly appeared in "The Amazing Spider-Man 2", played by Felicity Jones. While both characters exist in Marvel's Spider-Man Universe, Prince-Bythewood film will not be a crossover with the web-slinger. This movie will follow the studio's highly-anticipated "Venom", which marks the expansion of the Spider-Man Cinematic Universe.
2. Captain Marvel

Set in 1995, Captain Marvel follows Carol Danvers, a former U.S Air Force fighter pilot, as she turns into one of the galaxy's mightiest heroes and joins Starforce, an elite Kree military team, before returning home with new questions about her past and identity when the Earth is caught in the center of a galactic conflict between two aliens worlds.
Director: Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck
Distributed by: Walt Disney and Motions Pictures
Screenplay: Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck, Geneva Robertson-Dworet, and Jac Schaeffer
Produced by: Kevin Feige
Production Companies: Marvel Studios
Story by: Nicole Perlman, Joc Schaeffer, and Anna Waterhouse
Release Date: March 8, 2019
Directed by Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden and starring Oscar winner Brie Larson in the title role, the Captain Marvel movie is sort of an MCU prequel as it's set in the '90s and will feature a young Nick Fury (with two eyes!) and Agent Coulson. It's not an origin movie though and will pick up with the superhero after she's become all powerful. The story focuses on the Kree-Skrull war from the comics, and rumor has it, it will tie in closely with the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers 4, so it's definitely not one to miss.
Samuel L. Jackson and Clark Gregg aren't the only MCU alumni joining Larson as part of Captain Marvel cast though, as Guardians of the Galaxy villains Ronan (Lee Pace) and Korath (Djimon Hounsou) will also put in an appearance. As for newcomers, Jude Law, Ben Mendelsohn, Gemma Chan, and Lashana Lynch are all joining the MCU in this movie.

3. Avengers: End Game

Adrift in space with no food or water, Tony Stark sends a message to Pepper Potts as his oxygen supply starts to dwindle. Meanwhile, the remaining Avengers - Thor, Black Widow, Captain America, and Bruce Banner - must figure out a way to bring back their vanquished allies for an epic showdown with Thanos - the evil demigod who decimated the planet and the universe.
Director: Anthony Russo, Joe Russo
Distributed by: Walt Disney and Motions Pictures
Screenplay: Christoper Markus, Stephen McFeely
Produced by: Kevin Feige
Production Companies: Marvel Studios
Based on: The Avengers; by Stan Lee, Jack Kirby
Release Date: April 26, 2019 (United States)
Avengers: Endgame is the simpulan Phase 3 Marvel movie and according to Feige it will be "a finale" like we've never seen before in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
Up until recently, we really didn't know anything about Endgame other than the fact that it's a sequel to Infinity War and was filmed at the same time with the same directors, the Russo brothers, but Marvel Studios finally released a trailer recently which sets up a very bleak beginning for the film.
Endgame is obviously going to deal with the aftermath of Thanos' click and hopefully see the remaining Avengers reverse his actions. Despite the directors and writers desperately trying to make us all believe that those deaths are real, I think it's safe to say that most of the dusted superheroes will be back - some of them have sequels coming up after all.
How that happens is still up for debate, but we've since had the Soul Stone theory confirmed, which offers us a few hints at how it might be possible, and some leaked Avengers 4 set photos, curious casting announcements, and that Ant-Man and the Wasp ending hints at a major time travel plot.

4. Spider-Man: Far From Home

By October 2016, discussions had begun for a sequel to Spider-Man: HomeComing, with a release date given to the film before the end of the year. Tom Holland was confirmed to return in July 2017, with Watts also confirmed to return to direct that December and Gyllenhaal cast as Mysterio in June 2018. Holland revealed the film's title ahead of filming, which began in July 2018. Filming took place in England, the Czech Republic, Venice, and New York City, before wrapping in October 2018.
Director: Jon Watts
Distributed by: Sony Pictures Releasing
Screenplay: Chris McKenna, Erik Sommers
Produced by: Kevin Feige, Amy Pascal
Production Companies: Marvel Studios, Columbia Pictures, Pascal Pictures
Based on: Spider-Ma; by Stan Lee, Steve Ditko
Release Date: July 5, 2019 (United States)
It's definitely too early to guess at the plot of the sequel, although at least now we know one likely villain will be Mysterio, who has a history of using illusions to frame Spider-Man for crimes he hasn't committed.
However, maybe Mysterio will actually be a good guy, according to Jacob Batalon. "[Spider-Man] reluctantly saves the world again with Mysterio. Mysterio's a good guy in this, they're both teaming up to kill the game, to defeat these Elemental monsters," he explained.
Gyllenhaal added: "There are these threats to the world, the Elemental creatures, and Mysterio is someone who knows about them and who wants to make sure that the world is safe from them, and Nick Fury asks him to come on and help because he's the only one who really understands them in a way.
"And he teams up with the Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man and unfortunately he has to make him become more than just a Friendly Neighbourhood Spider-Man."
Another thing we know for sure is that the film will be heavily influenced by Avengers: Endgame.
Spider-Man: Far from Home will begin only minutes after the conclusion of the Avengers: Infinity War sequel (with only two months between the two movies' releases), which will also bring the MCU's Phase Three to a close. The wall-crawler is being positioned at the forefront of the MCU coming out of whatever climactic event that involves. Feige has hinted that it will bring the stories of some of Marvel's biggest heroes to a close, and Holland will be there to "hold your hand and lead you into the next incarnation of the MCU".
The film has been confirmed as a "global" story and filmed in London as well as other undisclosed locations.
Marvel has also confirmed that the second Spider-Man, Miles Morales, is out there somewhere in the MCU, though it might be too much to hope that he will be co-starring in Spider-Man: Far from Home. But we'll be keeping our fingers crossed.

5. Gambit

Tatum was looked at for early attempts to include Gambit in the X-Men films but was not available for that character's film introduction in X-Men Origins: Wolverine (2009). Taylor Kitsch portrayed the character instead and was not well received. Producer Lauren Shuler Donner expressed interest in a Gambit film starring Tatum in early 2014, and the actor officially signed on that May. The film has been in development hell since then, with Rupert Wyatt, Doug Liman, and Gore Verbinski attached as director to the film at different times over the years and the film's release date also pushed back numerous times. As of September 2018, Gambit has been scheduled for release on March 13, 2020.
Director: Doug Liman
Produced by: Simon Kinberg, Lauren Shuler Donner
Production company: 20th Century Fox
Story by: Chris Claremont
Release date: March 13, 2020
Reported byCollider, Gambit—specifically if the version of the film they’re developing now is significantly different than previous iterations:
"You are absolutely right [that this is a different version]. There are elements that are similar, but it is different in tone, almost in sub-genre—one of the things that we’ve done with these standalone movies […] is that we’ve tried to create sort of sub-genres within the superhero genre when it comes to these standalone movies; even Deadpool itself is like a raunchy R-rated comedy, not just a superhero film. So Gambit became something different over the span of developing it with Channing, with his partner Reid [Carolin], with Josh Zetumer the screenwriter. It is something that we intend to make but listens I’m Jewish, so my expectation for everything is I don’t believe anything until it’s out in movie theaters. So I share your cynicism generally, but in this particular case we’re working very hard to get the movie going."
Previously Gambit was described as a heist film, but Kinberg says the focus has now shifted to a love story:
"It still has elements of a heist movie. It has elements of a romantic comedy and elements of a heist movie because he is a thief, but it is a love story between him and Bella."
This change in tone may have been one of the reasons for Verbinski’s departure, or perhaps the film evolved after the most recent filmmaker left the director’s chair. Regardless, if Gambit is indeed a love story, there’s an opportunity to hire an exciting filmmaker out of left field to come in and really knock this thing out of the park.
6. The New Mutants

Five young mutants, just discovering their abilities while held in a secret facility against their will, fight to escape their past sins and save themselves.
Director: Josh Boone
Distributed by: 20th Century Fox
Screenplay: Josh Boone, Knate Lee
Produced by: Simon Kinberg, Karen Rosenfelt, Lauren Shuler Donner
Production Companies: 20th Century Fox, Genre Films, Sunswept, Entertainment
Based on: New Mutants; by Chris Claremont, Bob McLeod
Release Date: August 2, 2019
The New Mutants was supposed to open this past April before it got kicked to February 2019 and then all the way back to August 2019. Back in March, reported that the film was undergoing reshoots to make the film straight horror and a sizeable percentage of the movie is being reshot. However, when Steve Weintraub spoke to producer Simon Kinberg some time ago for Dark Phoenix, Kinberg revealed that those reshoots are still to come.
As for the direction, those reshoots will take the movie in terms of rating, that’s still being decided. According to Kinberg, there’s no mandate on what the rating must be, and they’re waiting to see what kind of film director Josh Boone delivers:
“It’s the kind of movie that could go R, or it could be a hard PG-13. As I was saying before in terms of subgenres or the genre, it is obviously teased as a horror film, and most horror films these days are R-rated, but it stars a very young cast, so we’ll see. It really is what the movie wants to be. The studio is open to either rating… Traditionally, superhero movies are PG-13 other than Logan and the Deadpool movies, and generally, horror films are R-rated, so we’ll see where this one falls. It is a very scary, edgy movie.”

Production company: Marvel Studios, Walt Disney Motion Pictures Group

Story by: James Gunn, Dan Abnett
Initial release date: 2020
This movie was supposed to be the only other title that has been announced at this point: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. But then all hell broke loose. James Gunn lost the directing gig, thanks to insensitive Tweets that were on his timeline. And the cast - especially the extremely vocal Dave Bautista -- supports Gunn, even if it costs them a role in this sequel.
James Gunn has always said that the next sequel in the Guardians franchise will bring an end to the story of THIS version of the Guardians team. That includes Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Drax (Dave Bautista), Rocket (Bradley Cooper) and Groot (Vin Diesel). Even though most of them "died" in Infinity War. However, the movie has been delayed, and pre-production has been frozen, as Marvel Studios figures out what to do with this franchise without Gunn at the helm. Do Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 get replaced on the production schedule by Doctor Strange 2 or Black Panther 2? Stay tuned.
Given that the Soviet Union fell in 1991, this puts the year the movie’s set as 2006. According to the ever-useful MCU wiki, that was a pretty quiet year, with the only superhero action a couple of sightings of the Hulk. In fact, it was so quiet that the Lion King musical transferring theaters and the release of Microsoft’s ill-fated Zune are deemed worthy of mention. This should give Marvel a pretty clean canvas to work from and a few characters they could easily squeeze into the plot. For one, I’d imagine we’ll see Nick Fury in action, and perhaps Black Widow‘s first encounter with Hawkeye.
If this synopsis does prove to be true though, it sadly puts the kibosh on the rumors that the movie’s plot would be about stopping the Y2k bug. That’s a shame, as I felt that the story had some potential, but I can understand that they might not want to do too many 1990s-set films in a row.
Fans spent years calling for Marvel Studios' first female-led superhero movie, and for the longest time, it seemed like a Black Widow solo film would be the perfect solution to the request - what with Scarlett Johansson's character's being arguably the most popular heroine in the franchise. That didn't wind up happening, as both Evangeline Lilly's Hope van Dyne and Brie Larson's Carol Danvers broke the glass ceiling respectively with Ant-Man & The Wasp and Captain Marvel - but that doesn't mean a Black Widow movie isn't happening. In fact, it's currently set up to be one of the titles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's Phase Four.
For a long time, it was hard to tell what information was real and what was spurious in regards to this project, but it's been confirmed that the project is happening. In July 2018 it was revealed that Cate Shorthand has signed on to direct the feature, her previous work including the period drama Lore and the horror movie Berlin Syndrome. At this time there are no official details about the story that the movie will tell, but we should have a much clearer idea of where things are going soon.
In April of 2018, Kevin Feige confirmed that Marvel was making a movie based on The Eternals comics. The project was part of discussions the studio was having about which direction to take the movies post-Avengers 4. And it's more than just talk. Shortly after the announcement, Black List writers Matthew and Ryan Firpo joined The Eternals as screenwriters. In the initial announcement, Feige had said that Marvel was, "beginning to have creative discussions...to see if we believe in them enough to put them on a slate." If Eternals is already moving forward this seems like a good sign for both the Firpos' script and the film at large.

When it comes to the cosmic side of Marvel Comics, the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies have only scratched the surface. Sure, we've seen a few Thor and Guardians of the Galaxy movies, but there are millions of beings out in the cosmos that have yet to make their live-action debut. The Eternals is a tremendous step in that direction, as while we've already met one member of the titular race - Thanos - there is a whole world created by Jack Kirby that should make for tremendous cinematic exploration.
Chloe Zao was previously in the running to take the helm of the Black Widow movie, and while she didn't get that job, Marvel Studios decided they wanted her to stick around for The Eternals. The comics tell the story of a race of beings created from proto-humans by god-like aliens known as Celestials, and it's been said that romance will be at the center of the intergalactic story - specifically the relationship between Ikaris and Sersi.
There have been no casting announcements yet for The Eternals, but the movie offers plenty of opportunities for Marvel to diversify their roster. The Eternals include all different kinds of characters, many of whom don't appear human. Marvel is reportedly looking to cast diverse actors for the new franchise.
The story for Eternals is said to revolve around the love story of Ikaris, the leader of the Eternals who is fueled by cosmic energy, and Sersi, who is an Avenger in the comics and can transmute objects into any form she desires. Kevin Feige has promised that the future of Marvel will be female, so it's likely to expect more female characters than just Sergei.
As they have since pretty much the beginning, Marvel's plans moving forward will include mixing things up between sequels and original projects. After all, while the latter allows things to constantly feel fresh and new, the former lets us see a lot more of the characters we've previously fallen in love with. This most definitely extends to Doctor Strange, as Marvel President Kevin Feige confirmed to CinemaBlend in summer 2018 that a Doctor Strange 2 is currently in development.
Unfortunately, Kevin Feige's statement also noted that the sequel would arrive "a number of years from the first," so this is a project we potentially won't see until the back half of Phase 4. It has not yet been officially announced who will be directing the movie, but the smart money is on Scott Derrickson, who helmed 2016's Doctor Strange and received both positive praises from critics and saw great box office success.
Cumberbatch's co-star Benedict Wong has said that he hopes the film will begin shooting before the end of 2018. There are already three MCU movies coming out in 2019 (Captain Marvel, Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: Far from Home), and as Marvel has never released four in one year yet, we would expect Doctor Strange 2 to arrive in 2020.
With Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3's indefinite delay, it sounds as though it might follow Spider-Man as the second MCU Phase 4 movie.
Is anyone in the world even remotely surprised that Black Panther is getting a sequel? Sure, we don't know exactly when we can expect it, but there was no way that Marvel Studios wasn't going to take full advantage of what currently stands as its most successful feature release. The first movie did an amazing job establishing the world of Wakanda, eventually seeing it open up to the world, and Black Panther 2 will offer the amazing opportunity to fully explore what the presence of the country means for the entire planet.
Ryan Coogler has not yet officially signed on to take the helm of Black Panther 2, but one can certainly imagine Marvel making him an offer so big that it would be impossible for him to refuse. Given the very real appetite that audiences clearly have for this character and his homeland, it would make all the sense in the world for the MCU to launch the title within the first half of Phase 4.
With announcements for most projects on hold until the Avengers: Infinity War storyline has officially played out, Marvel Studios hasn't been able to officially confirm a Black Panther sequel. But given the reaction to the first film, boss Kevin Feige said it is "absolutely" going to happen.
"[I have] nothing specific to reveal, other than to say we absolutely will do that," he said.
We're not sure if he's alluding to this, but Marvel does have one placeholder date in its cinematic diary beyond those films listed above, with no superhero franchise currently attached to it. The proposed February 18, 2022 date is also very close to being four years since the first Black Panther entered cinemas.
